"Business Service Side of Workforce Development"

- by Pam Nabors

Capital Workforce Partners (CWP), the WIB for North Central Connecticut, focuses its resources and a strategic effort on four industry clusters, based upon job growth, and targets a talent pool of workers for each industry using its training and business services. Using this model, CWP has established regionally approved training programs within growth sectors, selectively funded Incumbent Worker Training projects; developed a targeted business service delivery model with Industry Sector Experts assigned to each cluster; and selected Board members based upon affiliation with the clusters. By focusing on the four clusters, the CWP leverages the collaborative efforts of our partners to create talent pipelines for the region to spur economic growth.

Trainers in CT. can benefit from this program by becoming knowledgeable about the  jobs that will most likely become available in CT. and be able to train our workforce towards filling those needs. Further, understanding the direction of the major Workforce Investment Board (WIB) in CT, trainers and H.R. staff alike can be better prepared to anticipate employer needs in the short term and long term perspective in CT.

Join Pam as she opens to us this understanding of the service side of workforce development in our area.
